horse rescue/adoption info

Hey, I was just wondering what horse adoption/fostering/rescue was all about, what you have to do, and where to start. I think it would be a great way to help out PMU foals, retired rachorses, and abused horses. I just wanted to ask someone expierienced what all you would have to do. Thanks
