I'm thnking if you had a round pen, they got used to just glueing themselves to the outside of it of guidance. Now they have to use you and the line.
So so so many horses get like this. They learn to stick to the outside of the round yard, with no flexion to the inside, and just 'go round' with owners thinking that they've worked their horses. Going around in circles, with no real purpose does very little.

One line lunging does very little for the horse itself. Long lining (2 lunge lines) works so much better for the horse. You should treat the horse as if it hasn't been longed before. You need to teach the horse to give to pressure (nicely), and not to 'hang' on your rein. Long lining is much better for them.

Go back to square one, right from the start. Train slowly, and take your time.

Good luck

Ok well I went to try some of the things that ya'll suggested and amazingly today she had a much lighter head, so I tried sending her like I did yesterday and there was a little pulling here or there but with a slight tug she gave in. I think Im just lucky to have such a smart horse (or maybe not....LOL jk) But either way she was great today. My husband rode her for 5-10 minutes, just long enough to run her through her 'paces' (While I was working with Sunny) and then she was lunged for about 10-15 minutes. She was so well behaved! Then when she was turned back out in the pasture she took off trotting all proud of herself Her energy is getting so much better and she is looking so much better too I will post pics soon!!

Just give it some time. Some horses learn slower or are really smart and trying to trick you by trying to annoy you enough to stop making them work ......with thier "bad" (but I think it is smart) behaviour.

Remember, that they can only pull & lean if you give them something to pull & lean on!

Auzzie Honey: there are so many things that you can do with 1 line.....2 lines aren't always better. I never use 2 lines, but my horses are fabulous on the lunge line, just absolutely great - so much that people are just shocked when they see what they can do & ask me how I taught that. I just kinda chukle, cause I've just worked on having a light & forward & responsive horse!
