What type of paint are you using? They make actual paint that is safe for horses. Also, any water based paint should come out with a good shampoo and a little elbow grease.

Yeah I think it is water based paint. but it takes about one day of scrubbing then we take them out to the field let them sweat the rest off then shampoo them again. we also cant ride them because there paint gets on the saddles.

I have had success with baby oil. Also, there is a product that is called goo gone. It is great.

We used a water-based finger paint, that just brushed off at the end of the day. Even on the white parts of the horses, it just brushed right off with the stiff brush.

They sell a paint that's safe for horses along with american stencils. That stuff washed out real good with some brushing involved. If you use real paint.. it might stay in for a real long time.

My parade group uses "Twinkle" with the stencils indiekisses mentioned. It is an oil based gel that is easy to remove. It can be used on mane, tail, body, legs and on people. They also make Twinkle Toes for hooves. I have never used any other type of paint as I would worry about toxicity.

With little kids they add soap to the paint so it actually washes off. It is for like window soap, so you could add horse soap to the paint, just enough to change the ph and make it wash off easier.
