Unhappy horse not doing well

A horse at the barn were I work and board, cut his pastern area seriously 6 weeks ago, tearing part of his suspenserary ligament. It was healing fine till about a week and a half ago when he cast himself in his stall and took a weird step standing up, somehow making him super lame and opening up the incesion again. The vet is starting to think he won't make it.

Right now I am trying hard to manage my own feelings, I lost a horse last spring due to a puncture wound to the hock, and after not riding for many months started rdiding and being around horses, and recently purchaced a new horse. I really have gotten attached to Toadie and if he does not make it I don't know what I will do. I really don't want to make the rash decision to stop riding again, but I don't wan't to keep riding and beng around horses if all I do is think of him and Scarlet

Please hold Toadie in the light and Help I don't know what to do

Dear Dare 2 Jump,

I am sorry to hear that you lost a horse last spring. I lost my draft horse gelding last novemember due to a hoof infection the was incriable and cushings diesease. I know it is very hard i have ridden one horse for 15 mins since my horse died. I know it is hard to get them off your mind but you know what they say if you keep remembering the good times it will help you throw the process. I hope this horse makes it and if not you know god did his best and theat he will be in a better place and he will not be alone he will have your other horse to keep him company. You got family and friends that love you and care about you. Well i hope this horse makes it i am rooting for him he is a fighter. Remember keep your chin up. Remember i am with you and i know how hard it is and i know what it feels like. I am crying over the story and the thaughts of my horse. Well good luck Toadie. And good luck to you dare2jump you willb e in my thaughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear this! You know, there's a reason God puts things like this in front of us, and trying times will only make us stronger.

I too lost a horse a few years back to a puncture wound in the fetlock. She was my first horse, and at 18, it was a big deal because I had bought her with my own money and everything! It was sad and I still think of her often, but the experience has made me stronger, wiser and a better horse person.

I'll keep toadie in my thoughts and prayers!~Brittany

Every time you lose a good friend the hurt is hard to bear. But to imagine going through life without having the experiences and fun you've had with them would definetly make our time here much more dull. I've lost over the yrs a number of loved mares, and dogs but I least I've had the pleasure of having them. Keep on going and good luck to Toadie.

Definately keep seeing the horses and keep riding.

I lost my colt only 2 months ago because of puncture in the fetlock. I have a new filly to take care of now, and I know someday another Jack will come along. I kept going to my riding lessons and my friend and I recently started her filly. I can't imagine life without horses and I hope that I can serve well all those that come into my life.

Jingles for you and Toadie. Stay strong.

Dont worry, god has wierd ways of making things work out. If toadie is meant for you he isnt going anywhere. Im sorry to hear about Scarlett though Dont ever leave your passion for riding behind. Every cloud has a silver lining, so just keep waiting.

Good luck to you an toadie also!
