I have a mare that was part of a group of horses owned by Jaime Cardoza at Rock Hard Ranch in northern California -- Yuba County, I think. I want to find out more about this mare. Cardoza's horses were confiscated because of neglect. Yuba County won't release any information, but several horse people have emailed me about the condition the horses were in. My mare is grey, probably an Appendix Quarter Horse, has an old hoof injury and a wire scar across her nose. She is about six years old, sound, a good mover. 15-2hh. Does anyone know her, or her history, or where I can find Jaime Cardoza?

The website for the Quail Valley establishment shown is for a different ranch. Type in (I think) Quail Valley Ranch #1. I'll try it and see if that's it.

No one answers the phone and finally an electronic voice says the phone cannot be answered at this time. I don't think it is a "message phone" but that it's currently not a working phone.

Look up Jaime Cardoza's myspace. You will see a bunch of very skinny horses, plus some that look ok but were photographed after a recent arrival. When the horses were removed from Rock Hard Ranch there was no water and no food. The pond pictured was completely dry.

I assume you mean Cardoza's myspace and not Jan Johnson's -- I do not know (but I will look it up) if Johnson has a myspace. She does, however, have a website -- Legacy Farms. It's in Clements, CA. My grey mare is second on the sold list (with my name misspelled.) Here is Cardoza'a myspace: Be sure to watch the moving video. My information is that some of those horses are not even alive anymore. Others were rescued. The background (which looks ok) and some of the horses are not typical.
