Horse finally turns the corner

A BRITISH horse that refused to turn left is now back on track thanks to a course of aromatherapy. Revels' rider could only get the animal to turn one way because of scarred tissue on its back that was restricting its movement. But a blend of lavender and sweet almond oils, black pepper and massage has given the five-year-old gelding a new lease of life.

Revels couldn't turn left. It would rear up and turn to the right,'' horse therapist Penny Palmer, 39, said.

As soon as I began to massage the horse's back I saw the problem.

There was scarring tissue that meant he was physically unable to turn to the left. So I gave him a massage using aromatherapy oils - lavender for relaxation and black pepper for pain relief.''

Is it full moon time again? Did the cereal truck overturn and fruitloops got spilt?

I heard about this last week - not sure where.

Its an amazing story, and just drives home that sometimes the horse is only doing what he needs to get by.

By the way we know people who had a car that could only turn to the left, although I don't think aroma therapy would have helped.

It was an old Landrover with a steering lock to the right, and when they were mustering if the wanted to turn right they had to do a BIIIGGG loop around to the left.

Was pretty typical of all their vehicles - if we were in the States they would definetely be Red Necks!

My stepson was driving the above mentioned vehicle and complained that it had no brakes. My husband suggested he pump the pedal - but was told that there was NO brake pedal!

Then again these people once mustered their woolly paddock in a front end loader because it was the only working vehicle on their 900 square mile property!

Got love those relatives of Mia's - although she is always reminding me that she had no choice about her relatives, whereas I chose to marry into the family. In my defense they were the cousins that I didn't know about at the time!

I use to ride a horse that hated to turn left because when he was young he injured his pastern on his hind left leg and even though it was years later he still thought it hurt even though it really didnt and he didnt want to put weight on it or anyhing. Long story short, it took me years to fix him because a little girl would only canter him to the right becuase of it.
