Horse Behavior

I think i need some help!!! Last night just before a storm rolled through here My horse went crazy and started bucking and then kicking. She kicked a older horse at the barn not 1 or 2 time, but 5 to 6 time. The barn called a vet to check him out and outside a few minor cuts he checked out ok. What im tring to find out is what would a calm gentel horse start acting this way and why did she kick him over and over. I want to be a good horse owner and all but i wasnt there and dont know what night have started it so if any of you could help i would appreciate it

Horses will be horses and when they are in a herd situation, there isn't much you can do to stop their behavoir. I am sure the storm helped set them off, but chances are it was just a dominance issue and a fight for the top position. It happens all the time.

Well, I think you sort of answered your own question there. A storm. I know horses can sense when a storm is coming and will act pretty frisky. They can tell alot better than us changes in the atmosphere, etc. Especially if it was actually thundering when she started really acting up and getting aggressive, she was probably just really scared. Can you try to keep her away from other horses when the weather is bad?

Dido with Shotgun. It just happens. When Bubba was around I saw him him buck up and slam Isis with both back hooves a couple times. She was always fine, it's just what they do for dominence.

Yeah, see if you can seperate them, because this is probably just how your mare deals with weather and it will probably happen again.
