Horse Behavior

Can anyone recommend a good horse book(s) that describes horse behavior/psychology, interaction (verbal/non-verbal communication)? Not interested in training methods, just the equine language. Thanks.

I can't think of any books that are just about that subject-i tend to be quite interested in animal behavior myself. The info I have gleaned is from natural horsemanship books such as Monty Roberts, and Pat Parelli(sp?) if you read around the training jargon you can learn about why a horse behaves how it does, as well as herd dynamics and social skills. I aslo watch A LOT of discovery channel and animal planet. Try looking for any studies done on Wild horse herds-there are people that just study their behavioral patterns.

definatly read pat parelli natural horsemanship. it is allll about horse behaviour and psychology, how they communicate non verbally... our communication with them. its the type of book you can read over and over and still get stuff out of it that you didnt pick up on...
