Horse auctions in Oregon?

I'm just thinking ahead into the future...because I want my next horse to be a rescue. I don't want to adopt one from a rescue for personal reasons. They usually have a huge adoption fee, or insane rules and regulations-I understand WHY they do(I used to work at a rescue), I just don't want to deal with that . Anyway I'm straying off topic...does anyone know of any places that hold equine auctions in Oregon?

If you want to drive to Eastern Oregon (Hermiston)...NW Livestock holds horse auctions the 3rd Sunday of every month and usually the ones going through are what the kill buyers are looking for. Also every February, May, and October is the Big horse Auction and both Good and bad go through there. http://hermistonhorsesale.com/

October is a great time to be a buyer for the sale, no ones buying so they don't have to feed in the winter so prices are crazy low.

Hermiston is about 7 hours from me. Hopefully it will still be going on when I'm ready to get another horse. I'm training my filly right now so it'll probably be in 2-3 years.

Ok, I'd probably need to get there, sleep in a hotel, go to auction the next day, then drive the horse home. Do they let you take the horse home the day your bid goes through, or does the moving have to happen the next day?

As far as I know unless they have changed things you can take the horse as soon as it's paid for they give you a pink slip and you go out back to check in area and go get your horse.

If you do come be sure to plan several months ahead for a hotel room, this is a huge horse sale but the horses you are most interested in will go through either Friday night after 6 or early Saturday morning. If you want to skip a hotel you could always come stay at our house we could go to the sale together. I love window shopping for horses

6pm? If so then I'd just definitely need to get there Thursday, sleep, then go Friday around 6, find a horse I'm interested in, then head home that night. Skipping a hotel would be great and fun! Though like I said, it'll be a good 3 or so years, if it even happens. Do you have property?

We have a little under 1 acre, not much but it works for now. I can only hope in the future of having at least 10 acres.

Another thought is getting up early Friday morning, driving down. Finding your horse that afternoon buying it. We could set up an empty pen at my house for the night, then you could head home saturday

Just a few weeks ago I made the drive from Hermiston to Eugene twice in one week. My son was at a drumline camp in NOTI and we spent the night in Eugene once and Corvallis the next time.
