Horse age question

At what age do most horses look like horses (size) instead of ponys? My brother has a 3yr Appy that is as big as my 16 yr Qtr/Arab. I have 2.5 year olds that are still small they are supposed to be Qtr/Paint and Qtr/Arab. Do they have like a growth spurt?

depends on the horse and the breed and a lot of other issues...
wonder how tall mom and dad is?

The breed and individual horse factors into the growth-range, but most horses grow to some extent until they are about 5.

I agree with the previous posts. I does depend on the parents and most do grow in some degree until about 5. However, in most cases, at 2.5yrs they should have already had a "growth spurt". That being said, years ago I bought two APHA's from the same bloodline and they really didn't look like a mature horse until about 5.

Maybe I'm not understanding - BUT - I've never had a young horse that looked like a pony.
