Horse abuse

i got a phone call from my mother the other day that there was a litle pony on the ride and can i catch it and put it back in its paddock. well when i got there, i saw this poor little fellow, all of 11hh and didnt have much condition on him at all. well i caught him and put him back into the paddock where it looked like he got out of. the paddock was made up of a 3 wired fence, 1 of which was running across the paddock on the ground, there was nothing but sand and the water didnt look to good either. well i went aroun the paddock, got out all the wire and fixed up the fence as best i could, then i gave him a feed. not much just some chaff and oats. i asked someone who they belonged so i could go and tell them about their pony. well the owners werent home but i left a note on their door. the next day i decided to call in . well as soon as i got to through the gate this woman came storming out asking what i wanted. after telling her that i wrote the letter, she said the little pony was 25years old and that is why he looks like that. well didnt i have some words to say. for one he shouldnt be in a paddock like that and just because he is old it doesnt mean that he has to look like that. well i left it at that and left. i found out later that she has already been spoken to by the rspca. maybe they should go see her again. she also had another rather horse locked up in a shed.

Some people *shakes head* I don't understand. If you don't want to care for them properly, why have them at all?
Have you called the spca to inform them about her? Perhaps if they dealt with her b4, they can put a stop to it this time...

no i didnt but i did warn her that i knew of someone that will be going to call them if nothing was done imediately. it looked as though she knew she was being watched or something like that by the way she came storming to her gate. she also had 3 larger horses in the paddock next to the pony, although they did not look abused, they were abit on the lean side though, i only like healthy looking horses, uno gleaming coats, no ribs showing, the paddock didnt look that good. wire evrywhere. i did what i could in the little time i had, kids going off in the car, but if you dont have a good pastured paddock to put them in then for goodness sake give them plenty of good quality hay to much on. i did offer to take the pony off her hands but there was no way she was going to part with him.

there was also another case that i was interested in quite some time ago. the local riding school went bust so they couldnt afford to feed the horses and ponies. quite a few mind you. the rspca was called to this one. alot of the horse were really bad so they had to be put down. but some of them were taken and cared for to nurture them back to health. i heard about the rescue and had been trying to get involved. i inquired about taken on one of the horses but i the one in question was one of the bad ones. poor thing. the others were saved and rehomed. the riding school got severly prosecuted adn banned from ever having horses again. yes this makes me very upset that people woulod do such a thing. a horse carries people around for most of their life, obeys thei every command, and all they ask for in return is to be in good health and shelter. people who wont to this or cant afford them DONR DESERVE TO HAVE THEM FULLSTOP. all i can say is the tables should be turned. dont feed them for a week, dont give them any water or a place to live then see how they like it.

I think you mean neglect LOL, neglect is when they aren't cared for, abuse is when they are physically tormented. It's rotten that this lady has no idea that an old horse can look healthy - I was called out to another very simular case where an old mare looks like a skeleton with skin on and the owner refuses to give her up. The RSPCA are dealing with it and I do hope they sort it out soon! For the pony you're talking about too!
