So many kids today never give a single thought to the irrisponsable things that they do.
I hope the little girl won't come away from this with fear for horses.
I agree somewhat to making him stay with the horse, etc. but given the fact that he hates them in the first place, I could see a child being morbidly happy that it died. These future sociopaths get their start somewhere. That kid should have to work to pay off the expenses, I totally agree, I also think he should be held accountable and also his folks to a degree. Here in Oregon firecrackers are illegal. What state is the OP in?

Because there are hinny holes like this where I live, one of the things I do is get my horses used to fire crackers, guns and any horns I can get my hands on. I will even take them to the fire station several miles away to hear and the sirens.

I hape the girl continues to ride and the boy get a decent punishment along with therapy.

I'm speechless....

But oddly...I am familiar with the type of boy this is,my brother is Schiztphrenic and bi-polar, he purposely hurt animals to get attention and because the voices in his head told him too... Even set the side of our old house on fire once...

OMG. i would have beaten the **** out of him, and made him scared ********!!! my brother(26 at the time!) was setting of fire crackers and my horse was flipping. i litterally started screaming and got a cold hose and sprayed him then punched him in the nose. i broke it but he learned.(not the horse, my brother)

that kid has no respect and need to be put in a padded room!

I wonder if the parents can have him picked up and placed in Juvie for the weekend? Here in MS if a juvenille exhibits this type of behavior the parents can have them picked up and request that the child stays until a preliminary court hearing, or even as long as it would take to go to trial. Kids in my area have been picked up and put in Juvie for a month or more for less than what this little psychopathic snot did to that horse and his sister.
