I don't know if it works for all horses, but when I was feeding BOSS to my saddlebred gelding it made his hooves very strong. Too strong. He usually self trims but while on the BOSS his hooves didn't chip away like they have always done. He grew too long much too quickly. After I removed the BOSS he is back to keeping his own feet at the proper length and all I have to do is check them now and then and at the most just round off some uneven spots. He naturally keeps the angle correct and has never had contracted heels or thrush problems.
