I would nearly guarantee that if you look at the foot from the outside, and look at the line that the coronet band makes, I bet it curves upward at some point when going from the front of the foot to the back. That upward curve will correspond to the bruise; the upward curve corresponds to too much hoof wall in that area, and that causes bruising from excess pressure.

Ok, by "outside" I thought you meant the lateral (side away from the middle of the horse) side of the hoof. You mean the outer hoof wall as "outside". Same thing though - it is from excess pressure in that area of the foot. Being in the toe area means the toes are too long.
