but hes put a boot on it and is getting the farrier out tomorrow. but he said its happening alot at the moment becasue of the drought as the ground is so hard he said not to worry to much but start greasing her hooves but i am worried about it. do many people put shoes on yearlings and has anyone had there young ones get cracks at this age specialy when they are at training?
It's a rare circumstance that shoes would be required on a yearling. RARE. Can you post some pictures? Much more likely than not, the trim is not balanced, causing the crack(s). Shoes will not help that.

my horse currently has a toe crack in her right front hoof (and the crack is getting smaller), i use Tuff Stuff, available at horse.com for about $8 dollars and you apply it once a week. it strengthens hooves and works great. you might want to soak one of the hooves in warm water for a few days to see if it makes a difference b/c there could be a lack of moisture depending on your area and pasture conditions. if it doesn't extend from the bottom of the hoof to the top it should be no problem!

i know i use rainmaker on my horses and yes it does help, but you might want to check with your farrier to double check it isn't serious. You could also try Hoof Saver, which also works well. =D
