Thanks for all of the replies.

Mary- Wow...thank you for all of those links. Here's the link to the page I am working on.... Bits of Information

When I'm going through the information, I state that those three (blue roan, red roan, and bay roan) are the only registereable roans. I will add to it and state that any color can carry a roan gene.

I still have A LOT of work to do on that page. The information that is on it right now, is what I was able to get done in a couple of hours this afternoon. It is definately a work in progress.

Homozygous basically means the horse has two copies of the same gene, so all its foals will always get one copy of the gene from that parent.

For example, a cremello is homozygous for cream, so all its foal will have at least one cream gene (possibly two if both parents carry one).

Homozygous Roan isn't proven to exist, but as LRD stated, while it was once thought to be lethal (with the foals never being born, not lethal like the Lethal White foals) there are some horses who seem to indicate homozygosity with Roan.

Well I think this stallion comes pretty close...

Lazy M Salty Blue, 1993 blue roan stallion owned by Broken W Quarter Horses, Dean & Pat Woodham, Bonifay FL. This stallion has produced 115 foals, all roan. His genetic code is (EE,aa,RnRn) sire: Hancocks Blue Boy - dam: Valentines Blue.

I like that horse Mary. His get seems to sell very quickly around here.
He has a son named Dillon, who may be Homozygous also.

Gorgeous boy! I love the look of Hancocks. I wonder if they allow visitors. He's not too far from where I am.
