I need some help with media homework, can anyone think of any events which have happened in the past few years that has been in the media and was dependant on a photo(s) to tell the story or discover the truth.

Edit: i found the paper that says what I gotta do (I couldnt find it before)...

Find an incident in recent history (following the Children Overboard Affair (october 2001)) where images have been used to create or distort a story.

so yeh, I guess thats a bit different to what I said before, hope it helps you guys

I think that would have been more about eyewhitnesses than images

This is going to sound so strange but it was all I could think of, I am not sure you can use it because it is an American story.
Anyway maybe a year ago(?) a picture came out of a hunter who killed a giant boar who was like 12 feet long. I am not sure the exact stats on it but he had it hung from a tree and it was much larger then himself. The hunter said he buried it right away and so the only proof was this one picture. Anyway everyone thought he faked the pic and it turned in to a huge deal and National Geographic actually sent a team out to dig it up and try to figure out how big it was. I am not sure they could determine the actual size since it had decomposed but it tuned in to a mini-national sensation based on one pic.
I will see if I can find a news story on it.

What about that story a little while ago about how we (USA) targeted a Iranian house that had children in it, and pictures were used by the major media that were found to be not only posed, but taken from another area entirely, where the bombing was done by the Iranian terriorists not the USA. And ones where they've tried to blame killings on Marines that have been PROVEN to be fake.
