I'm homeschooled!
My parents decided to do it because when we moved an hour away from our old school (we used to go to private Christian school) it was really difficult for us to commute back and forth between our house and the school... and there were some things my parents didn't like about it anyway I don't think.
I like it; it gives me a lot more flexibility... if I wasn't homeschooled I wouldn't have much time to spend with my horse
As for seeing friends... the only friends I have are friends from the barn and church and such... so yes, I see them a lot.
And I'm in A Beka Academy homeschool program... my mom grades my work and things like that, but the actual teachers are on a DVD that I watch.

I was just wondering why you guy/paretns decided to homeschool you. Do you like it? Do you still see your friends? Does one of your parents teach you?

Sorry about the questions
I was homeschooled 1st-12th. I'm now enrolled at Texas A&M.

A lot of reasons. The public school systems are very poor here, for one. Both my parents felt that a school in general was not the kind of environment they wanted their children to grow up in. And they felt that they could give us a better education at home. So far they have more than accomplished that.

Do you like it?

Yes. My schedule has been incredibly flexible.

Do you still see your friends?

Yes.

Does one of your parents teach you?

My mother taught me 1st-8th. I had online tutors 9-12th.

It looks just fine! My transcript lists all the courses I took in high school plus any extra circular activities and volunteer work.

But really, all colleges are looking for is your ACT and SAT scores. So if you are homeschooled, then just get in touch with the local high school and find out when they are going to be doing those tests and sign up. If you get good scores on those tests then you can get it any college you want.

Agreed. A&M did not even blink at my homeschool transcript. You just have to make sure you've scored well on some standardized tests (SAT, ACT, SATIIs, AP, and PSAT if you're trying for a National Merit scholarship) to verify that you did in fact learn the material you say you did. Most colleges treat you exactly the same as other students when considering you for admissions and any type of scholarships (except, of course, scholarships for students who graduated from particular highschools).

I've been homeschooled for the last four years. My parents took me out because they frankly didn't want me to go the public schools around here. My brother came home from high school one day in his senior year, and told my mom that we shouldn't go to public school. Private was out of the question, so we homeschooled.
My church previously had a church-school, so I was able to borrow textbooks from them, and the rest from a friend that homeschooled her five kids. My mom's friend is also licensed to test by the state, so we took out annual tests at her house.
Now that I'm moving, my sister and I are going to start school again. I'm a junior this year, and I need to get everything ready for graduation, and college- and we're choosing not to put my parents through that kind of stress

I'm cyberschooled. I was in public school up until ninth grade. I went through a lot of heck in school (more than the average bear and not your normal drama) and really wanted to be cyberschooled through high school so I would get away from that junk and be able to be with my horses more. My mom and dad went so sure, but eventually gave in and don't have a problem with me going to cyberschool.

Also forgot to mention the only reason my parents let me be cyberschooled is because 1) they didn't have to pay for anything, 2) they didn't have to teach me anything or really do anything, and 3) I still receive a diploma.
