I like making stuff for my horses too, it is fun. and yes listerene does work as fly spray, i was rather surprised but glad about that. it is so much cheaper than store bought.
i will write down the recipe for the fly spray later and post it for you.

Do you have a recipe for horse cookies?

I still say the best fly spray to make is the following

2 tsp. Arbor Oil
10-20 drops Citronella Oil
Apple Cider Vinegar (fill spray bottle about 2/3)
Water (top off the rest of the bottle)

Arbor Oil was given kudo's on Good Morning America for being
an all natural, safe, and yet amazingly effective way of keeping bugs
away.
It's found in the All Natural stores

I tried it once and have never ever bought from the store again.

I will spray on my hands and rub around the eyes, but if they are sweaty I will not put too close to the eye.

Lightbulb Fly Spray Recipe

Here is my recipe for fly spray, it is really simple-

what you need is a 32oz spray bottle and a small bottle of listerene(i use mint but the flavor is really your choice)
you just pour the listerene into the spray bottle, it should fill it up about 3/4 of the way up and the rest you fill with water.

when i put it on my horses i mist them with it and then go over and rub in into their hair with a small rag. for putting it on their faces i lightly wet a paper towel with the spray and rub it on their faces. do be careful not to get it in their eyes though, or it will burn them.
after you spray them they will have a nice minty smell .

That is a fantastic idea! Would have had no idea that you could use Listerene as a fly spray. I am going to definately try it. I am all over any ideas that save money, and work! Thanks for posting it
