Hi from Smalltown Wisconsin

Yes, I am another horse.com transplant. I came AFTER the crash because I heard great things about this board.

Here is a little about me and my horses:
My name is Jessica and I am 25 yr old. I live in a very small town in Northwest Wisconsin, population under 1,000. I have two children, a 2 1/2 yr old son and a 1 yr old daughter. I'm slowly but surely getting my husband interested in horses.

We have two horses right now. Stormin' Norman is a 16 yr old Leopard Appy gelding. I actually used to ride him over 10 years ago at a riding stable. Shortly after I helped train him, I got out of horses completely due to the death of a close horse friend. Recently, in the last few months, I found Norman again and found out he was for sale. I couldn't say no and now my boy is enjoying an early " semi- retirement" here as my husband's horse. He is 16.2 hands and he is a big sweetheart.

When we purchased Norman, we also looked at a 12 yr old Appy mare Shake Your Booty. I liked her and we took her home too, to be my trail horse. Now though, that we are home, I'm suddenly afraid to ride her. She's a great horse. Used to be a kids gaming horse, considered "dead" broke, but she's got a lot of pep.

Somehow in the 10 year or so absence from horses, I lost my nerve to ride...so now I'm in the process of trying to find a trainer willing to come and work with us here and just give me a refresher and help me get my confidence back.

So that's the long version...sorry. I tend to ramble!

Welcome to the forum! It's cool to see someone from Wisconsin, I'm actually from Green Bay.

Your horses sound very nice!

It's like about any other website or technology product. I was bewildered and confused for a few hours, then it got better. A couple of days later, I was zooming around like I'd been here all along.

Welcome Jessica.
At least you have a "small town". I live in a community and doubt we will ever become big enough to be a town.

Take your shoes off and stay a while.

Hi, Jessica, and welcome to HGS! Looking forward to hearing more about you, your family and your horses. Several of us have had to work on getting our "nerve" back, so you're not alone... best of luck to you!
