Thumbs up HGS versatility Showcase! POLL *GELDING*

ver·sa·tile
Pronunciation:
\ˈvər-sə-təl, especially British -ˌtī(-ə)l\

2: embracing a variety of subjects, fields, or skills; also : turning with ease from one thing to another

Let's see who's gelding has it all!

Please take the time to read the essays and check out the pictures from the links. There are too many pictures to copy over and they ALL deserve to be checked out before you decide.

Name of Horse: Doc
Age of Horse: 7
Breed of Horse: Appaloosa

He tries soo hard each and every day to impress me, and you can just tell in his eyes. Now that Doc is practically lame, he isn't going to be showed again. Its just really sad because I know he enjoys doing it alot. I love you boy!

HGS Versatility Showcase!

Name of Horse: Jackson
Age of Horse: 8 yrs old
Breed of Horse: Paint horse

Ever since I got Jackson, he has tried his heart out for me and did everything he was asked. Even if it meant doing something he was totally not cut out for like Hunter Under saddle with his short little patheitc legs, he still did it.He gave me a mane to cry on, a person to talk to, a carried me to the winners circle numerous times. And even though he is now worthless as a riding horse, he still is my best friend in the whole world.

HGS Versatility Showcase!

Stanley
19
TB

He's somewhat well rounded, I've done a few different things with him. He's mostly just.. round now though. If I had more time to ride him, I know we could have done more. He gave me the confidence to do anything.

HGS Versatility Showcase!

Bongo
13 yrs
Sportspony

HGS Versatility Showcase!

name: Gold "N" Oak aka Oakster
age: 4
breed: QH

i would like to nominate my guy Oakster. he's been under saddle since last year. so in that small time i like to think he is well rounded. i love him to death, and we've learnt so much from eachother.

HGS Versatility Showcase!

Name of Horse Felix
Age of Horse 3 in May (technically 3 now, APHA)
Breed of Horse Paint

Felix just takes everything up like a sponge and is so patient and such a fast learner. He is a good sport about everything and is very talented. He has alot to learn but he'll make it!

HGS Versatility Showcase!

Horses Name- Quick to Skip
Age- 7 years old
Breed- APHA

I dont have any pics of barrel racing or horsemanship on here. Not sure why. But Skip and I do a variety of events, and do well in all. Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Eq, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Trail, barrels and we go trail riding Skip is a great horse I've owned him since he was a year old. We have accomplished a lot within the past 6 years.

HGS Versatility Showcase!

horse Dragon Fly
He is a 7 yr old 3/4 TB 1/4 QH gelding.

I bought him as a 2 yr old (I was 13) and have done all the training on him. The first time I got on him he was in a corral with a bunch of race horses. The owner told me to just get on him!! Mom finally let me. I rode him around the corral with nothing on him, as a 2 yr old and he didn't care!!!!! Ever since then I've been having lots of fun with him. I can do litterally anything with that horse. I can ride him western, english, bareback, bareback and bridleless, he ground drives (i don't have a harness or cart), he does mounted shooting, cavalry reenacting (he'll stand next to a canon when they shoot it!), and he even gives lessons to begginer riders. Anyone can ride him.

HGS Versatility Showcase!

Name of Horse: Zips Sandman
Age of Horse: Coming 7 y/o
Breed of Horse: Quarter Horse

(No essay entered)

HGS Versatility Showcase!

Name of Horse Rising Storm
Age of Horse 28
Breed of Horse Arabian

For quite a while Stormy was my only horse. Oh I had Bessy but she was mostly retired. Me being me I could never choose only one event so instead we worked hard to include every event I could do in 4H. There are even more events that he does that I don't do with him such as Driving and Dressage. I have gotten a first place at least once in every class I have done with him and I always know I can fall back on him if I need to (like when Dreamer is being a butt). He is on of the most versatile horses I know. A list of our classes we have done (don't have pics for them all) include Reining, western riding, western pleasure, hunter under saddle, Horsemanship, Equitation, Saddleseat, Trail, Hunter Over Fences, Jumpers, Halter, Showmanship, cutting, cross country, and all of the different Gaming events. He is a once in a lifetime horse, thats for sure.

HGS Versatility Showcase!

Jazz
13
grade QH

I'm nominating Jazzy because he has a great mind and loves to please. He'll do anything for me, from jumping to reining! I've been training him since winter in reining (the basics) and just last weekend my friends and I decided to set up a few jumps. He hadn't jump all winter, mind you the jumps were barely 2 feet high. But he just had a BALL throwing everything he had everytime he popped over one of those jumps. Then I took him aside and did some spins with him to calm him down. He's just amazing, and I can't wait to go further in reining with him. I've decided to concentrate on that one discipline and try to finish him in that. But he still enjoys going on the trails and we do a lot of western pleasure.

We recently found out that he has heaves, so I gave him a well-deserved break, started him on his meds and re-started riding him a week ago. You would never guess he had 2 weeks off and that he has a respitory problem! In the past 4 years of owning him, here are some pictures of the very few disciplines we were doing that were caught on camera. I wish you guys could meet him, he's a sweetheart and gives his all in everything I throw at him. He's the type of horse that would gallop a mile for me even with a twisted leg!
