Red face Hero's Blog

Thought I would keep a blog here since its easier to update then an actually blog site.

Anywho I guess Hero was a rescue? The man I got him from got him by the ASPCA long story...the man I bought him from was temp fostering him but his real owner does care for him just didnt know the barn he was keeping him at was poorly taking care of him.

I'll catch everyone up we are at our two month mark

**Take note he is my FIRST HORSE - I always just took lessons so I have a lot to learn lol

Here is the photo I got when I was looking into purchasing a horse I wanna say it was mid March 2009

Two days before bringing him home! Late March 2009

I thought I was going to have to start from scratch - I was told no one has ridden him since he raced (6 years ago!!) but he responds to my leg, second ride off lunge
Beginning of April

after the ride and is nasty looking confirmation

So April/Marchs weather SUCKED it rain almost everyday here in PA,

After a couple of rides using the take and release and a lot of leg hero finally has a nice headset under saddle
mid March - (yeah i know my pads on backwards i was being a dummy)

I think I see a neck in there some where!! Late March

My boyfriend has been lazy and never wants to come out so there is a lack of riding photos..
Here are my latest photos taken beginning of June

We have our first lesson on Sunday!! I'm so excited I havent had anyone come out to help really with Hero except some barn friends...I am definitely making my bf come out for photos so you guys can see how nice he sets him self up now - keep ya posted

"aww kon'nichiwa"

Well I already posted pics in the critique section but I thought I'd post them here too.

I thought I was doing good with Hero bringing him in from the hind and flexing at the pole but this was all on a loose contact.

Trainer came first time to give us a lesson and she wanted the contact really taught - Hero did not like that but she said he'll learn with practice..and omg we finally got the right lead after a few times of asking

Photos!

hated contact

eh better..

much better

hate my position in this pic but love his face

all done

Working on desensitizing - no great photos,
Hero is working on getting tacked up inside the barn (he has an outside stall were I usually tack up), the wash stall is no longer a scary place.

The fly spray is still scary but the stud chain helps him stand still and take it like a champ.

And he has picking up his leads perfect every time. That lesson must of paid off!
