Smile Help With Mane Please !!!

Hi...I was wondering if you guys can help me out. I have cut my mare's mane and it is very thick....the problem I have is that the hair that is closest to her neck keeps peeking through and making it look awful and uneven......How do I cut it and have it straight? I ride western. I prefer NOT to pull her mane...does anyone have any suggestions? and what am I doing wrong? Thanks a bunch

You'll probobally get more responses if you put this in 'horse grooming'.

Why not just roach it off? Does she have a nice neck? I showed hunter/dressage with a roached mane, because my gelding did not like his mane pulled, and it was so thick....just a suggestion....

Pulling is really the best option. Why are you against pulling it?

What breed of horse? Do you have photos? Do you have a thinning blade? How long is it? If the hairs are all the same length why are some hairs sticking up and not all hairs doing it? Is the hair from the underside sticking up because it was clipped short and now is doing the Mohawk growing back?
