I agree, to stop slaughter we would need to first work on the things WE do to contribute to it...

Yes and anyone who breeds just 'because' can't whine, because they are part of the problem....

CowGirlUp I understand that we need to maintain the population and you say that slaughter is humane but all Ive heard about slaughtering is horrible and inhumane. If they take care of this in a humane way and they inforce it then Im not against it so much.

[quote=Blistering Winds] but calling and WHINING about it ain't helping either.[quote]

Whining? Wow.. I didn't know taking a stand for something was considered "whining". That's incredibly rude. I'm speechless at your attitude, and how negative it is. Yes sure, you're looking for a solution that will produce real results. However, that does not give you the right be so arrogant to others with good will intended.

Some people say the "bolt" is inhumane...but others will say the pink juice (buthanasia) is just as inhumane!

What defines Humane?

The Captive bolt, just for clarification as I personally have been there and seen what goes on, is EXACTLY THE SAME THING as they use in cattle.

It is a long PIPE-like apparatus that is used on the horse's head. If you rhorse has a star, that is about where.

It basically destroys the brain on impact. KILLING the horse mind wise immediately. The horse is officially dead within a split second.

YES, there are cases of 'misses' but they are VERY VERY few and far between. And it is only a second or two to finish.

You cannot chemically put them down due to the useages of horse meat. Which is used in animal foods, and various other 'foods' not in this country.

Here are other things to consider:

Carcassas...can't bury them all or we have contaminated water.

Burn them...eheheh..have you EVER burned a body? UGH..neighbors won't SHUT UP

Ok..now what?

You can "COMPOST" them, but, OMG, I can hear the UPROAR in that!!!

Still, it IS her first post to this forum, her feelings are VALID...maybe we could educate her without making her feel attacked?

Straight up, I'm sorry for even posting on this forum, and I doubt I will again after this.

But this is how the Senators hear people who call and say HOW DARE YOU ALLOW IT TO BE PUT THROUGH.....

These calls are DAILY. I've spoken to the Texas Representative not long ago and all they hear is WHINING on the telephone. No SOLUTIONS, but Complaints, threats, crying, Sobbing, etc.

You may not be calling to whine...but the MAJORITY of those Emotionally Involved ARE.

Sorry if you take me wrong, but hey, I'm a REALIST! I AM involved in this process. You just don't know all the details of what I go through.

Midn you I was up till 2am last night working on JUST THIS SUBJECT. Bouncing ideas, looking into PRIVATE funding and such. On A NATIONAL level, not just a Community Board. But actual people with connections IN the House and Senate who are TRYING to get the slaughter ban Signed, but PROPERLY. Not with Emotion, but with real facts, real numbers, and a REAL solution.
