I actually taught my mare to pick up her feet for me on command..... Shes been through a rough patch I can imagine, shes got some shying problems, and her feet was a big problem, I solved the problem with treat training *she responds like a dog, which is great because I am a dog trainer for friends and family lol* I started off grabbing her feathers, and saying "pick up" and leaning my full body weight into her *a whopping 100lbs lol* she picks up I hold it until she stops fighting, then put it down, give her a treat, and scratch her all over baby talk and all lol, her ears were pricked, and with that in about a half hour *less actually* all I had to do was touch her shoulder and say "pick up" and she would lift her foot for me, sometimes she puts it forward, but just backing her back up, and trying again, she will lift is strait up....I have gotten her great on the front, and started on a back , so shes pretty good and has had 3 feet cleaned in the 2 weeks we have owned her, the last foot may be a problem, because she injured it early this year, and i imagine its still healing *no scar, or anything, skin is healed, but probably phantom soreness, not warm vet ok'ed it

Try dog training, it helped in my case, and for those fearing her being a biter, actually, shes far fro that, she loves to give sloppy kisses, and the one time she sucked my fingers up on accident she quickly pushed them back out as if "wait..thats not food! you tricked me!"

*on a side-note, she loves to have her ears cleaned with your fingers, and will tilt her head towards you, afterwards *just like a dog* she has to smell it and literally suck it off your fingers...shes so cute! but she won't touch you with her teeth, and is very soft mouthed*
