Well....first you need to look into insurance and contracts. Call Agri*Risk Services at 1-800-821-5558 They have insurance for horses, trainers and farms.
Check with your home owners insurance. Mine dropped us when I turned my barn into a riding stable.
You will have to have business cards, brochures, and some type of advertising.
If you need to buy more horses, that means more hay, vaccines, vet check expense, farrier, deworming, more feed.
Barn should have tack room, office, feed room, hay room, adequate room in stalls, safe pasture turn outs, some people want wash rooms. Phone and electric hook up. Bathroom/portajohn.
Are you going to be licensed? You can go to the Department of Ag and they do a animal/farm check and it cost 100.00 the first year and then 50 after that to be a licensed facility. If anyone complains about the animals, a vet is sent to invest the complaint.
Is the place secured? Is it on your land? If not, someone would have to be there at all times. If you are licensed.
Hope this helped.
