    HELP PLEASE! 'Roughout' Leather??????

Can someone please tell me what 'roughout' leather is?
I'm thinking about buying this one, and it doesn't look fuzzy/rough or anything. Thanks!!

Well, it isn't smooth finish like other saddles.
They aren't necessarily fuzzy. The best way I can describe it is like a smooth suede, but that isn't totally accurate either.

Sorry! Hopefully someone can help you.

Why would you want to? If you want smooth leather, just buy your saddle that way.

They usually run for about the same price, actually many people selling used saddles seem to sell the rough outs for more. It just depends on what you're looking for. And if you're wanting a smooth leather one you can find some used for pretty cheap.

Rough Out Leather generally comes on a Saddle in two ways:

Some Saddle Makers just turn the leather over and use the rough side - Cheap way

Other Saddle Makers take the good side and Sand the leather for a nice finish.

Hmm. I never knew that! lol. Mind telling me what suede is then? (Suede newbie)

And what brand is the saddle in the picture? It reminds me of one I was considering before.

The Saddle Pictured is a Royal King, Imported by JT International I used to have them years ago, but dropped them!

Suede leather is made from the under side of the skin, generally from the Calf, but also from a Cow.
