The livestock auctions in and around this area are very highly attended by people buying and selling gaited horses. THis means a lot of the ungaited horses fall into meat buyers hands b/c they aren't what people want and therefor sell cheaper. For the past year or so I have been attending these auctions with my close friend who owns a boarding stable. Last September i was lucky enough to "inherit" a pony from these auctions. She blossomed into a lovely horse and i was hooked. When the funds became available i would buy one there, fatten it up (most are VERY underweight), throw some basic training on it and resell it. I do attempt to make a profit on these animals, however a good home is more important than a good profit, in my mind at least. However, since i board i am running out of money to continue with this. I have decided the only way i can continue buying horses from the "meat auctions" and selling them to better homes is if i find a new housing situation for them. The whole point of this post is to ask if anyone in the central Kentucky area knows of anyone who would be willing to rent me a field. It doesn't have to be fancy, so long as it can hold 2-4 horses and has a good fence (electric is ok) around it. I would do all the care for the horses. I am currently paying $150/horse and so i absolutly cannot pay more than that. I would also be willing to pay a flat fee that doesnt change depending on the number of horses i have (meaning if theres nothing in the field you get paid the same as if there is 4).
