Nothing illegal about it as long as the hole is "legal" per EPA standards.

as for sending them over the boarder, no law has been written nationally as of yet.

More likely, majority of those horses will land in Canada or Mexico...since Canada is booked, the next likely source will be the mexico markets for the kill buyers.
Yep and the whole thing wants to make me puck! Like Mexico is better then regulating our own slaughter houses! There will always be underground houses! Oh what we don't see or hear! Yes there are many of them not regulated and now forced to run even more of them.

It really doesn't matter who is pro or anti slaughter anymore as slaughter is now illegal. We all just need to band together and realize that these horses need help, regardless of if we wanted to do away with slaughter or not!

The market may get flooded, but it is not just anti-slaughter people to blame! It is the irresponsible breeders, the irresponsible owners as well as the government and yes, the closing of slaughter houses.

How is the Government to blame in reality?

They are doing what people want.....

Texas cannot be blamed in all reality, because it is a law that was on the books BEFORE Slaughter opened in texas.

It was enforced....just like we ***** and complain about other laws getting enforced.

There are things the government can do to try and regulate horse breeding. They are doing what people want and shutting down the slaughter houses, but in my opinion they could do more to help regulare the population of horses.
And I blame slaughter houses for letting this happen because of the horrendous conditions most horses were kept in b4 slaughter. If things were not as bad for the horses waiting to be killed, I don't believe as many people would have complained about horses going to slaughter...
again, just my opinion

This is America.

The government already regulates too much.

While they are at it, lets go to 1 child per family. Regulate BC of the human race.

They can't control the dog and cat population, how on EARTh do you expect them to do squat with the horse population.

And to be honest, Dog and Cat population need MUCH MORE help than the horses.

You're right, they do. The dog and cat population is already out of hand.
I'm only stating my opinions, and as we were on the issue of horse slaughter, that is the opinion I'm stating.
If people were more responsible we wouldn't have a population issue with any domestic animals, but people in general do not care or give two shits about it. So people will continue breeding, or not fixing their animals, and allowing them to get pregnant because they do not care.
Dogs and cats get euthanized in shelter, I just do not want to see that start happening to horses because the rescues are full and people cannot or will not take anymore. (although I'm sure there are those that take their horse out back and shoot them if they don't want them, just like ppl do with other animals)
The only way I see things changing with the population of horses, or any other animal, is if the government regulates it and enforces it. Not saying it will be very effective, or that it will even happen, but that is my opinion.

Exactly, the question is What can be done or How can it be done.
I have stated my opinion, but I am sure there are those out there who may have a better idea of what to do about it, and how to do it!
I am just tired of so many animals getting killed each year because there is nowhere for them to go, or nobody willing to take them..

i think "all those anti-slaughter" people actually are more willing than Pro-Slaughter. Granted most of them have never owned one nor have the facts. But what about people like Stormyheart...that swear to never send a horse to slaughter, even if they are 'unusable'. And why should they get the 6 trucks of horses on their door-steps, when most likely an amount of those horses were owned by pro-slaughter people.
