Again, I agree with you Peggy Sue. I'm not blaming Illinois, and I think the other states SHOULD be responsible for helping!!

I'm just saying that Illinois is only hearing people hollar to stop slaughter but isn't hearing any of the possible solutions, or giving people there or nearby a chance even to voice their concerns. It all happened so fast.

Am I glad that the horses on those 6 trucks didn't get slaughtered? Of course I am! BUT....I'm also very upset about them being shipped here, there and everywhere now, being stuck on a trailor, with nowhere to go!! Or, with anyone near that cares about them getting fed, watered, excersized, ect...! I feel so bad for those animals it just rips my heart out!!! Even tho, I don't have the room, I wish I could of taken all of them and put them here if even for temporarily. Cramped here, at least, would of been a "little" better than being cramped on a trailor, and not being able to even take one step.

Does anyone know where any of those horses are now??

Does anyone actuallly know the fate of the horses on those 6 trailers?? Who's to say the haulers didn't band together, dig a hole and start shooting? After all, if they paid 8 cents a pound for them and couldn't send them to slaughter, that's about $16,000 bucks more or less they're out altogether figuring the horses weighed 1000 pounds. If it made them mad enough, anything could have happened. People will find ways to take care of the horses they need to get rid of one way or the other. And sadly, the more people lose money on them, the easier it will be to "take care of them". There will probably end up being a black market for them to send them over the border. I honestly do not see what good closing the slaughter house does for the horses at all.

I just don't think that "all those anti slaughter people" should be blamed for Illinois incompetence in this particular situation.
I do who else is to blame! It wasn't clearly sought out when passing the bill! I think all the anti slaughter people ought to have these 6 loads of horses and all the unwanted that will be starved on there door step to take care off. If you notice it's the pro slaughter people that are the first to help while alot of anti slaughter people don't even own one! Imagine that!

I don't think it is Illionois to be blamed.

That would be the slaughter house, the owner/business of the slaughter house.

That is a business like others.
Knowing what is going down with the slaughter industry, as a business THEY should of prepared.

Is that an endorsement for illegal activity?

There we go again with "all the anti slaughter people"!

"All the anti slaughter people" DON'T own all of those horses. We are taking care of OUR horses....AND....some of are even taking care of some of the Pro slaughter peoples horses, that they no longer wanted or could use. All of those horses are now the PROPERTY (isn't that the term pro likes to use?), of MORE PRO slaughter people! How many more of the pro slaughter peoples horses, would you like the anti to take care of?

No, I'm thinking what actually might be happening to those horses and ones in the future...(realistically) You think I want something like that to happen??? Certainly not. I think killing a horse in a controlled, legalized environment would be much better.

I happen to live 30 miles from each of the 2 biggest auction houses in the state of Iowa and I haven't seen or heard of anything about them on or in the news or anywhere else. Belle Plaine is supposed to be having an auction today, but I didn't receive their flyer for it this month, so I honestly don't know if they're having it this week-end or not. They're another entity that is going to take a huge hit amidst this ruling. If the auction houses have to close, and there is no longer a "legal" place to take the sick and emaciated horses, what do you think is going to happen with them?

what is illegal activity?

digging a hole and shooting them?

Nothing illegal about it as long as the hole is "legal" per EPA standards. county ordinances, etc.

as for sending them over the boarder, no law has been written nationally as of yet.

More likely, majority of those horses will land in Canada or Mexico...since Canada is booked, the next likely source will be the mexico markets for the kill buyers.
