| Senior Member | The Minnesota Hooved Animal Rescue Foundation is in need of tack donations. Here is The add from their website __________________________________________________ ______________ Tack Drive For MHARF If you're a "horse person", there's a good possibility that you have one or two pieces of tack lying around the house, the barn, your basement, or as surprising as it may sound - in the tack room. And out of that collection of tack, maybe - just maybe - there's one or two "extra" pieces of tack that you've barely (or maybe never) used. Or, maybe your definition of "horse person" doesn't quite include horses, but you're a big fan of horse-style clothing and maybe you've grown out of that clothing. Whatever the case may be, MHARF would like to help you with this extra "horse stuff" that you might have - stuff like:
__________________________________________________ _______________________ They also have a very interesting plea for help(as copied from their website): Trainer's Challenge of the Unwanted Horse At some point, we've all attended a three-day clinic that was supposed to solve all our horse problems and turn our ADD equine into the next prize champion. But like the quick-fix diet, it failed. So we send our horse out for 30 days of training. The result? We see a glimmer of hope, but again, we're met with failure. Why? 30 days of training at one hour a day is a measly 30 hours of work. Most people put in 40 hours a week! And a horse is supposed to learn how to behave in less time than that? Would you let a first-time driver take off in your Mercedes right after they pass their test? Could you go up to an employer and demand top wage for a job after only taking 30 hours worth of training? Training a horse is a lifetime commitment. You want your horse to be rock-solid when a jogger in blaze orange comes around the corner. You want your horse to stand stock-still when the farrier is working on their feet. You want to ride with confidence that your horse is not going to explode into a panic the next time you try to trailer them or ride in a busy arena. Do you have the Trainer's Moxy? Have you spent so much time sitting a bouncy trot that you're not even phased by Minnesota potholes? Can you look at a horse and see the champion within, even though that "champion" has thrown you more times than you care to admit? Then pay attention, because we're looking for YOU. Keep watching this space. Very soon, we're going to ask you to walk the talk. We have 10 horses out there that will be assigned to 10 trainers with a very difficult task: take an unwanted horse - a horse that has little to no training - and turn it into the horse that everyone wants. Discipline does not matter. Turn the horse into one that yields to pressure; stands for the farrier; loads and unloads like a dream; spooks at nothing; stands quietly when being saddled; walks, trots, and canters on cue. (This is merely a list of examples, not requirements.) And you will have 100 days to do it. Oh yeah - and after the 100 days, you and your horse will be judged by a panel of experts and could possibly walk away with not only bragging rights, but up to $4000 in prize money. Do we have your attention? Good. Keep watching this site for updates and instructions on what you'll need to do so that you can be one of the 10 trainers selected for this challenge. The Challenge of the Unwanted Horse. __________________________________________________ _______________________ I am just posting this directly from their website : http://www.mnhoovedanimalrescue.org/ I am trying to help them out as I am donating some tack items. Thanks for reading. Hannah

| Senior Member+ | I wish I had tack to donate but all of my stuff like that goes to the rescue here that I volunteer at. For all of you that think "Why in the world would they need tack?". Some rescue resell it online or in a 'tack shop' of their own...to raise money for the horses. I know thats what the rescue I work at does.
