My horse paces for a week whenever she is moved to a new place, then she's okay. So long as your horse isn't injuring himself or loosing weight I'd leave him for a week or so and see if he'll settle on his own... it's a big commitment to take on a whole 'nother horse! Good luck

Thanks Kiwi Pony, Yeah that is why i am hoping he stops in a few days, he is getting better, its mainly when horses go past his paddock (His paddocks are next to riding tracks) but also when he sees my friends horse a couple of paddocks down. I've been checking him 5-6 times a day, he is eating normally, drinking normally, his stools are fine, rugging him at night.

Not going to fill up his water bath for a day or two, to see if he's drinking enough. He's eating his hard feed and hay, but has been pacing most of the day in a corner where the paddock is sand (thankfully.. better than him doing it on harder ground i guess). I got my more experienced friend to look at him and she said to do the thing with his water bath, and also if i dont think he's drinking enough maybe try and electrolyte/rehydration thing?

If your concerned you can add some electrolytes to his feed since hes eating, it sure wouldnt hurt him.

It comes in powder & liquid, you can get it at any feed store or even the vets but the feed stores much cheaper...if you cant get to a feed store just add some salt or sugar to the water till you can pick some up.

Sounds like he's just getting accustomed to his new home. When I moved up here about 7 months ago my horses didn't stop walking the fence for days. They came from a much smaller area and I think they were having a blast!

Congrats on your new boy! Do we get any pics?

Just give him time, as has been said. If he's done it before according to his previous owners its just his 'thing' when he is nervous. If he is used to being kept with another horse it will probably take him longer to get used to being alone, and you might want to consider a companion.
