HELP! My mare foaled 3½ months ago but still looks pregnant

My mare (anglo-arabian) had her new foal 3½ months ago but she still looks very pregnant. Everyone that sees her comments to that fact also. If I hadn't been there and now have the foal, I would think that she was still pregnant myself. Is there something wrong with her? She never lost any weight at all and her tummy is huge still. If anyone has a possible answer for me, I would greatly appreciate any advice or help.
Thanks,
Helen

Hi and welcome to the forums.
Sometimes it takes some mares a little longer than others to lose that baby belly. As long as both mum and bub are really healthy then you shouldn't have too much to worry about.

One of my girls has a 6 month old colt and she still has a belly too. LOL. I havent had a chance to get her back into exericise yet. Once you start working her again she will likely lose the belly.

Welcome to the forum. Jessie

PS - Mine that has the belly also happens to be an Anglo-Arab.

my friend's mares do that too. they have the baby belly for a while then they will loose. sometimes it just depends on the size of the foal too.
