Help me find a stud, please? :-D

I can't figure out what breed I'd like to breed Hope to. She's Arab/Belgian, about 15.3 hands, 4 years old. She's BIG. I definitely don't want a draft, and I'm a little afraid if I cross her to an Arabian I'd get a super energetic foal. I have found a couple Arabians that I'm interested in, though.

At this point I don't know what discipline I'd be wanting the foal for, so, I'm open to that. I wouldn't be breeding for profit, the foal would be my baby forever.

Here's a pic of her:

I probably wouldn't breed her till 2007, so I have time to figure it out. May happen sooner than that, I don't know.

I absolutely LOVE this guy, he's just gorgeous, but I don't think they breed him out to grade mares. http://equine.com/stallions/dshowhor...horseid=785322

Can anybody give me any ideas? Pros and cons of certain breeds, stuff like that? Thanks!

Look for a stallion with a long neck and back. This is where you mare needs imporvment. I'm not saying that in a bad way and please doing take it that. She is a cute mare, just could use alittle more back and neck.
If she were mine I would look for a thoroughbred stallion for her, or a paint with a thoroughbred pedigree.

Nope, I agree completely, she's quite the drafty girl.

I love colored TBs. One question I have: with Belgian coloring, is it the chestnut gene with the mealy gene? Or is it a whole different color all its own? That's one thing I haven't figured out yet. lol

I was thinking TBs mostly, just wasn't sure what I'd get from a combo like that. How about WBs, too?

I personally would not breed this horse unless I was just expecting the foal to be a trail/pleasure riding horse.
I would not go with a warmblood, too much bulk. I would go with a TB, they seem to cross best with the drafts And yes, make sure you find something with a longer neck, higher set on neck and a strong hind end. I would not go with an arab. They are too different in type and you may get bits and pieces of each horse. This is Tricon a TB stallion. (footfallfarm.com). He is what type I would breed to your mare.

I would say that her coat color is black based, with Agouti (Bay), and the mealy/panagre' modifier.... (IOW... she is a Mealy Bay.)

I know, I think so too. lol. I love picking out and finding stallions. the funny thing is so far we have only had one foal born at our house (and out of a rescue TB I normally never would have bred). I have seen so many nice, and not so nice foals working at the equine repro center and always found out bloodlines on mares and stallions as well.
