I have a retired 7 yrs old ropin horse that is over weight. He is pasture grazed and i feed him grain once aday at the same time everyday. (6:00 in the evening) I have 3 other horses but they have not gained near what he is. I need help on what kind of diet to put him on and how much exercise should i give him. |

If he's retired at 7 years old I'd assume it was due to an injury which ended his roping career? Knowing the horse's limitations can help determine an exercise program. What kind (brand) of "grain" is the horse on, and how much (weight in lbs)?

Grazing muzzle. No grain - replace with a vit/min supplement or a ration balancer, your choice. Then you go from there

i am able to ride him but you are correct he had a injury to his front knee. I feed him a coffe can of 10% sweet feed every day. He still has his spirit and loves to get out there and perform but has his limitations. he is just so fat
