Exclamation Help ***Doggie-caused Insomnia***

Okay, Bella (Bless her) is dring me CRAZY! She has decided she enjoys eating grass ( I know that this is something dogs do to make themselves ****) and I'm going INSANE with the consequences of her actions! I've been woken up EVERY morning this week to the heaving of an 80lb dog. I have to spring from my warm bed, sprint thru the house, fling open the door and shoo her out- Or suffer the mess that follows if I don't get her outside in time! Then, after waiting 20 minutes for her to poke around the yard (and eat more grass if I don't watch closely) I'm wide awake, freezing and REALLY grumpy! UGH! How can I make her stop!?!?!?

DURING the night I hear the constant **tampt tampt tipt** of her jowls smacking together as she licks (you folks with the large breeds KNOW what I'm talking about!) ON top of all of that, she insists on sulking about having to sleep on the floor (like a dog!) But, we have a water bed now and she cannot be up on it! She SIGHS like "Ugh, I'm so neglected, I no longer have a fluffy queen size pillow top bed to rest my beautiful face on".... She sighs, paces, turns and then FLOPS onto the floor in an 80lb heep **BOOM**

If I dont' get some sleep soon I'm going to explode! HELP!

LOL, I know exactly what your talking about Kim!! My danes get bouts of nausea as well, and they leave some pretty big nasty piles. My vet did tell me that when they smack their lips it is a sign of an upset stomach, so if she's doing that lots, plus eating grass perhaps she isn't feeling well?? Maybe take her to a vet and see if there is something wrong.

My dog was eating grass lately too, and got an upset tummy, he also will wake you up in the middle of the night if he see anything outside or hears anything, I just love being woke up at 3 in the morning to a loud barking dog...lol...but I got to love him...he also sleeps in the bed and it makes for cramped sleeping quarters...but he is my hubbies baby, all 60 pounds of him..lol..when I am on the computer he lays at my feet and when he hears me sign off of the net, and it say good by, he jumps up, cause he knows that I am getting up...lol...I hope that your doggie stops getting sick...Cathy

Chessie walks around scarfing up dust bunnies when she really doesnt feel well. THen eats leaves & grass when she goes/ gets taken outside to heave. I try to get a Pepto Bismol tab into her.. if she can keep it down , it seems to help.

Are you SURE that it is the grass causing her to be sick? My dog loves to eat grass, and though I've heard that it makes them upset (naturally induced) Lucky is never sick from grass... I don't really think that it would make them sick THAT bad and THAT often. Just a suggestion... but you may want to look deeper for a cause.

No, its the grass. Typically, they will ingest it TO cause them to empty that stomach. I'm monitoring her for other symptoms, but all she is pucking up is grass and water....

When you start noticing that she is eating grass and showing signs of nausea, give her a cup of plain yogurt with pepto mixed into it. That is what I do with my dogs and it works fast and is safe.

I realize that, but the amount that she is doing so is causing me concern... they usually only do it once or twice in a long period of time.
