Help??? Could she be pregnant

We bought a mare 1 1/2 mnths ago. She is 17 yrs old. Since we have had her she has not gone into heat. I have been riding her every couple of days or so, I went out to ride her today and I couldn't strap her flank strap around her belly it wouldn't fit. I did notice something on her teets to but it doesn't look like her milk bag is full. OMG could she be pregnant and getting ready to foal? The nearest vet is so busy I don't know when he would be able to come out and check her and we don't have a horse trailer to take her to a vet and besides that my husband is on the road and took the vehicle we use for trailering to the yard which is 90 miles away. What to do What to do.

You don't have any vets besides the one? Do you know anything about foaling? A friend who does perhaps? How about a friend with a trailer?

Do you have any pics you can post of her? I am a prego mare idiot so I won't be of any help but maybe someone else on here can.

The first picture is of her when we brought her home on March 8th. The second picture was taken about a week ago or so. Oh I hope someone can help. If more pictures are needed I can go take some.

her belly certainly got big. was there a change in diet? here is a quick and easy test- stand either in front of her or behind her, and have someone hold her still. does one side stick out farther than the other side? If she is pretty round and even on both sides, she's probly jsut fat. if she is lop-sided, you may have a little surprise ready to pop! lol congrats? lol!~Brittany

We just added beet pulp to her diet on Saturday and wormed her yesterday. But I rode her Saturday and her flank strap fit then and now it doesn't.

if you could get another pic of her standing like the one when you first got her it would help to determine if shes actually gained weight.

I have a horse who sometimes looks 200 lbs heavier or lighter day to day, his girth can even seem tighter. He is a bloater when saddling, I know he isn't pregnant LOL

I am wondering if she is blowing out when you tack her up? Does she move away from the saddle, turn and look at it alot etc while saddling? My horse was cinchy when I got him, he doesn't do anything but blow up his belly a little but still lol

If you are using tack new to her and it is uncomfortable or how you are cinching is in any way it could be your problem. Feed changes in a week shouldn't cause such a drastic change already. Over a month possibly.

If she's wormy it could make her belly bigger, I swear mine looked 100 lbs heavier the day AFTER worming them a week or so ago and now they look that much or more thinner.

Shes a very pretty girl btw, did you ever get her moving on a line or in the pasture to see if she was foxtrotting?

I was lunging her and my husband video taped it. You can see her pick up her opposite feet. ie. Left hind, right front then right hind and left front. Would this be considered the fox trott?

Is she picking up the left front and right hind together? And then the right front and left hind together? If so, that's just a trot.
