Hello!

Hey guys,

My name is Megan. I am a soon-to-be new horse owner, and also new to the forums. Normally before aquirring a new pet I do a lot of research, however I had two horses pretty much fall into my hands.

I've got a very good friend of mine who can no longer keep her horses, and I had spent some time around them(rode twice, helped bathe etc) in the past. My boyfriend loves horses, and had them while growing up(lost his last one a year and a half ago). When I got the phone call that she had to give them up- I had to bring him down to meet the girls. Of course once he was in the saddle again--he saw how much he missed it and agree'd to take them(This was Monday!)..

So tomorrow we'll be welcoming two Tennesse Walking Horses. One is a 5 year old mare- a chesnut/red color(I'll get the colors down eventually) and her 6ish month old daughter who is black. I'm doing a crash course research lesson about the breed, thankfully my boyfriend has horse experience so we are not fully in the dark- Though he has no experience with youngsters/weaning etc.

I'll be sure to post pictures when we get them home!

A little about myself:

I'm a huge animal person, but my experience lies with dogs and small animals. I own a retired racing greyhound (She's now 11), and an American Pit Bull Terrier mix(also rescued), and am a small hobby breeder of chinchillas-I show them as well . I also have two pet ferrets, and a bearded dragon.

Thanks Everyone. The horses are home, and settling in.I'll upload pictures later--I only got one of each as I didn't want to bug them too much.

Well after getting the paperwork from my friend last night, and looking over it--it turns out the mare is actually 17--NOT 5 like I was told. My friend swears she thought she was 5, and misunderstood her grandmother. While I'm a bit upset (12 years is a huge difference, IMO) I'm glad we have her. Hearing the way people talked about her--I think she just deserves a good home. I'll use her as my learning horse and when it's time for her to just become a spoiled pet to live out the rest of her life-- I'll look into purchasing something a bit younger.

Here are two pictures I was able to grab yesterday. They aren't the best, as they had just unloaded and the foal still didn't have her legs back--so was a bit clumsy at the time LOL.

As for the chinchilla pictures--I've got plenty of them. Do I upload them like I uploaded these? Or is it best to put non-horse related pictures from an outside source(Photobucket, etc)?
