Hey guys. I joined here almost a year ago and recently stumbled back upon the site. My name's Megan and I currently have one horse, a 9 year old Tennessee Walking Horse named Shadow. I've been riding all my life. I went from western to english pleasure to jumping to dressage to saddleseat. I used to ride Shadow saddleseat but about a year ago, Shadow went lame. We went through several diagnoses with our vet for about a month, at the end of which he could hardly walk. I actually joined here in search of answers at that point. We ex rayed him and the vet thought he may have bone cancer. We got to the point where we were planning to put him down, he would squeel in pain and I just couldn't stand to see him suffer. Last minute, I changed my mind. There was still so much life left in his eyes and he was fighting so hard. We sent his ex rays off for a second opinion and started trying different therapies and meds. He's been (mostly) limp and pain free for about 10 months now, and although I can't ride him anymore, I'm just so relieved to have him around. We have such an amazing bond, and even though he can be a GIANT brat, I love him to death. Anywho, I'm getting back into riding on some other horses and have been doing a lot of reminder reading here. This site is great! I plan to eventually get another horse, but going to college, paying off a car, paying off Shadow's vet bills, etc.. can't afford it right now. Here's a picture - he's black and white btw, this first photo just makes him look terribly sun bleached -which he was a little, but the flash washed him out. The second two are a few years old before he'd completely filled out. ![]()
