Has anyone heard of this?

We are getting a rescued TB at my barn in a couple of weeks that is coming from somewhere east. At this point all we know is that the owner of the horses went to jail for the condition of them. They were all sieized. I think it might have been a TB breeding/racing training place. All the horses that were being worked were in fair conditon but the ones not being worked were in horrid conditions. We don't know much about the mare that is coming except that she was in horrible shape. They have taken care of her medical issues so that she can travel but she still needs a ton of care.

I was just wondering if this story sounded familiar to anyone?

There was an SPCA seizure here in NY a few months back of around 80 TB's, mares, geldings, stallions..... that have all been dispersed into foster care or rescues and are now awaiting adoption.
My friend at www.tendermercyrescue.com has a few of the mares.

After reading this story I believe this is where the mare is from. She had to wait to be able to be healthy enough to make the trip. I don't think that my BO knows exactly what she is in for. I will tell her tomorrow. She may not want to know, she is just looking forward to getting her at the barn and rehabilitating her. I really want to help her do this.

I always wonder if this is how Dancers dam ended up as I cannot find her anywhere. I hope not.

I found her. Her registered name is Finely Decorated and I have been told they are calling her Beauty now. Words cannot even express the sadness I feel about her right now and I only hope her new life in San Diego is a good one, at least at my barn it will be. Here is a link to an article she was mentioned with. She was one of the 4 worst cases.

My BO agreed to let me help her with her rehabilitation. I am excited at the prospect of doing this.

She was one of several horses rescued and ended up here for a time:

Scroll down and you'll find her.
Those poor horses were in abysmal condition. I hope they hang that guy in the public square.

All the information I can give you is, keep him away from your horses for at least a Month. I rescued a mare that had strangles and every equid on my farm got it. I even lost one due to the severity of it (she was 23 and was being treated normally for strangles, but apparently she wasn't treated soon enough and got Streptococcus equi.
which she had to put down for (she also had a really bad heart murmur, and I didn't feel like finding her one day not living anymore)

re: strangles. She has fully recovered from this so there is no worry when she gets to the barn in the middle of July.
