Is that the side that his mane is on? Do you use any sprays on his mane? Maybe he is allergic to some product...

Wow! I haven't thought of that... well I think his mane is on that side. I'll look next time I see him. But I do put some stuff in his mane, but I have been using it for some time now and he just got the spots so I don't know if that would be the cause of it or not.

All it can take to cause a contact dermatitis with any of the products you use is an increased amount of it on the skin in one area. You are areally going to have to think like a detective here and take not of even little changes in what you've used, how you've used it.....

My dog gets a "hot spot" or that's what we call it every year. He rolls trying to itch it CONSTANTLY! Very annoying. We usually give him anti-itch cream and a children's benedryl (sp?). I doubt it's the same as what your horse has though....I don't know.
