Happy Mouth bits?

Has anyone used them before? Experiences?

What I have in my hot little hands is a loose-ring snaffle with the apple-flavored mouth. Pink, just because.

If you haven't seen one before, this is the bit:

I'm not generally into loose-rings given a choice. I'm just weird I guess, and I like a quieter bit. Also, I've had loose-rings pinch before. It looks like it'd be hard to get a bit-guard on one of these, not that I have any at the moment to try with... hm.

My mare is fussy about her mouth. I bought this bit today, and a fixed D with copper rollers like this:

It's that same exact bit, but mine's made by Metalab/Partrade and not by SLT. Oh, and I got mine for $13.

I have a couple Happy Mouth bits. I have nothing good nor bad to say about them. I used to show my Jumper in a basic full cheek Happy Mouth and he did well. Now mine just sit in my 'bit box'

That's all I will use on my App. He doesn't like metal bits and chews rubber ones all to pieces. The Happy Mouth keeps him content. Plus, his have lasted for a long time.

A horse I sometimes ride for someone uses a Happy Mouth Double Jointed Loose Ring. He goes very nicely in it. The horse I usually ride does not like bits that are even remotely thick for some reason. He dosen't like the thickness of the Happy Mouth Bits so for him they are a no-go.

Isabel has always been a big chewer with her bits. At our trainer's suggestion we bought an $80 myler mullen mouth snaffle. No big difference.

A couple months later the tack store was having a sale on happy mouths for only $25, I bought on impulse and Isabel likes it the most.

Yeah, I paid $25 for the Happy Mouth. I wouldn't have paid much more than that. My little Arab doesn't have the gaping maw that some horses do... so I'm not whether or not the girth of the thing is going to bother her!

I guess the taste has lasted for him as he is no trouble to bit up. The plastic has held up much longer than rubber does for him.

Ive used a Happy Mouth loose ring on FRM. I Like it. She seems to like it, responds well to it, and it lasted better than a soft black rubber bit, which she bit into in one session. Im considering getting the full cheek for her.
