if you want to see what your mare is like as a mother, then that is not the route to go....invest in a nice warmblood, arab, or TB stallion...not a QH...majority of mares who foal for the first time do not reject thier babies...

As for the cross itself; I think a QH/WB cross could be very nice. QH's and WB's are typically both very athletic and I personally know a wb/qh who's extreamly talented and a complete pleasure to work with. Regardless, breeding should only be done with 2 exceptional quality animals, so the real issue you need to consider is the individual horses you want to breed....your mare and also the individual qualities of the stud and how they may pair together. I'd love to see pics

| Senior Member+ | ![]() Is this her? Okay, see, I'm sorry but I have a HUGE problem with this. That cross, well, isn't going to work and your reasons for breeding, simply put, SUC.K. So tell me, what's her performance record? She was malnurished? So I'm guessing, since you said it yourself, she isn't up to her full weight yet? So you're going to BREED HER. Do you realize that is a VERY BAD idea at the moment? I am so against breeding a mare without a performance record. They have to prove themselves at something. And, your mares legs are enough to turn me off breeding her. I'm really not trying to be rude, just truthful. But her back legs, even not set up, are well, waaayyy under herself and toed out. And is she pigeon toed in the front? If you can't afford to take one chance at getting the foal you want with the stallion you want, and one that COMPLIMENTS her, then you shouldn't breed. |

Plus it says thats pics from the day she took possession of her... which could have been a year ago or 3 or a month ago. We really need more info on the mare and stud. Pot calling the kettle black and you could be a little less rude... don't know whats got into you lately

I'm probably going to submit my reservation form for her to be breed in the 2007 season to her. I've also found some TBs near me to go look at for her as well. After reading everyone's opinions I've decided to not breed her to the QH and try a different route. This stallion looks like he'd be a good one for her and they shoud produce a good foal together. I'd never heard of this breed until you posted that, so thanks!

Her performance record is spotless, she never placed lower than third in any dressage or jumping event she was in. She was an event horse and jumped all the advance jumps up to 4'6. So yes, she has an amazing performance record and a *lot* to pass on to her foals. She is nearly back to her full weight. In that picture, also, her hooves had not been trimmed in several months, so that was also why she did not stand well. She was also trying to walk off towards the herd and did not want to stand to get a proper picture taken.
