Post hands....

ok, since i've been working so much i totally forgot i was going to share this story with you guys...
i was at work (i'm a hairstylist) and this guy came in for a haircut...i have a pic of me, moose, pete and my mom on my station...well he asked if they were mine and proceeded to tell me about the two horses he used to have....one was 19.1h but he didn't say what it was and the other was a morgan/draft (either i forgot what draft breed or he didn't say) and was 16.5hands!!!! WTH? i almost started laughing...i REALLY wanted to correct him but then i was like "oh really..that's nice"...i just don't get it...and he didn't say 16 and a half hands or anything just "he was 16 5 hands"..hmmm

EWW. the first time i said i had to wash it he said no so i was like "fine, then you can't get a haircut. your hair is dirty"...well, i didn't say that right away. i tried to be nice first...but that's didn't work!

Yeah, that is gross! I never imagined that being a hairdresser could be scary! But I never really thought about that before.
I have heard some really bizzare comments too! Like, "aww poor horse has scabs, on all four legs" (chestnuts). And, "why do you have toilet plungers on his feet" (bellboots) And when out hacking on the **** , being asked by somebody "Can I ride your horse?" Duh!!!

It's funny how just that comment can make or break a person as a horseman.

NUMBER ONE RULE....THERE IS NO .5, .6, .7 hands..

Someone told me her 8 yr old quarter horse was 5.6 hands. I kinda looked at them REALLY funny. She had said she had been in horses for years. Right there I got in my mind that she didn't know **** . The horse was like 15 hands, not 5.6 hands.

That's a BIG thing among horsemen/women. You have to know BASIC terminology or you are damned for life...lol.

yea, i figured he was lying about the whole thing...maybe his friends have horses and he knows squat...but i figure..if you don't know how tall a horse is (like you say 16.5) you shouldn't own one.

[yea, i come across WIERDOS at work! i HATE when they try picking me up....unless they're intelligent and cute. hehe

speaking of which, this classified ad on gahorse.com really annoys me
"4 yr Thoroughbred Gelding - 15.5 hds & growing. recent on all shots, good on road & on trails. very gentle. Current Coggins. Located in Stockbridge, GA
Call Janet at 770-507-3141"

The horse's ad has been up for 2 years- no wonder it ahsn't been sold, LOL!!!

I love it when people do that..
AND I've had it that people have asked if they could ride my horse while out on the dike!!

But this one time I was at my friends place and we were riding in her neighbour's ring and this guy (friend of the neighbour's family) (oh yes and he was COMPLETELY stoned!!) so he goes yah can I ride your horse? I just went politely, sure hop on.
Ahem Khizzy likes to run.. A LOT, so while he was getting on she started walking, he couldn't get on very well, and then when he WAS on he was being weird and kicked her so she took off.. ah grest stuff I tell ya
