Yes the bottom piece that is attached to those two parts is the chin strap. They just put it like that so all the pieces stay together during shipping/etc.

They are to keep the nylon from gapping, also you can feed the extra material from the end of the buckle into them if it's too long.

I had one and hated it. It was such a PITA to put the bit on! Perhaps I was doing it wrong, but my horses never had any problem eating with a bit in their mouth anyway. And rope halters easily fit over or under the bit, or in a cantle bag.

Haha! I never have any problem with putting them on, we ride endurance with them too, so I have had a bit of practice. But hand one to my mom or boyfriend, you'd think it took a rocket scientist to put it on. they try to put the bit in first then realize that there is a halter attached to it that has to go on first. I just realized it was easier and much quicker if I just do it myself or hand them a one-eared headstall

hey I got it put together I think the thing that really stumped me are all those extra peices of silver things and
the chin strap
im not the smartest person to put a bridle or w.e together.
but if anyone wants to see my new creation let me know.
and if you have any tips like what I did was wrong please let me know

thanks all of you for all of your help!
