I have seen few people use half chaps when riding western. Does it really help at all?? I know english uses them for gripping. Just a question. Thanks to those who answer

I don't see any advantage in riding half chaps in western saddle. I ride rough out saddles anyways..... I do, however, see a huge difference when riding english. Chaps, in western, are more for your pants protection, not much of anything else the way you are designed to ride, set your legs, etc....which are different than english riding.
