Hair missing on nose

We just recently bought a horse. She is 17 years old and a joy to have. When we bought her she had a halter on her and had it on her for over a year and it rubbed the hair off her nose where the halter layed. I don't keep a halter on her now. She is fairly easy to catch most of the time. Will the hair grow back?

One of my geldings was rescued from a bad neglect/abuse situation and his halter had rubbed all the hair off his nose. It's been nine years and the hair has not grown back...there is one little section of his nose (where the halter would have rubbed up and down) that has no hair.

To be honest, I haven't tried to correct it with hair growth products (like MTG) so that may work.

It should! My horse also had that. She's a mustang and once they put her halter on, they didn't take it off. And she had a bump and blisters. Ick, but now it's allll good!

Something like MegaTek or MTG may help. I personally haven't used MTG but MegaTek helped my daughter's pony, who was rescued from abuse/neglect and had had a halter on so long his face had grown around it. Not ALL the hair grew back, though, and since the area is light-skinned, we have to keep sunscreen on it so it doesn't burn and blister.
Good luck with your mare. Hope at least some of the hair grows back.
