Cool haha! It was fun!

I went out to ride at 8 on saturday morning with my neighbor. I didn't ride any of my horses because one is really sore, the other isn't exactly broke enough and the other had a swollen eye from all the dirt he keeps rolling in!! but anyways, so i rode my neighbor's mare. She's the type of mare that gives the mares a bad name. So we were riding around, walking around barrels. Both the horses were being really bad that day, but I just walked around the barrel and trotted. Then the mare decided to refuse to go around the barrel, instead she wanted to run. i didn't let him and she started backing up and jumping around. She was throwing her head and she just kept backing. She was backing downhill though, and i didn't want her to fall. I pushed her forward and she finally quit. So we went back to walking around the barrel, and as a i put leg pressure on her, she went psycho! She tried to put her head down and wanted to buck. I pulled her head back up and turned her in a circle. She backed, hit the barrel and a pole on the ground. She freaked, reared up a few times. My friend was just staring at me speechlessly. After a few rears, i thought i was going to fall. i let go of the reins so she wouldn't rear up more or flip over. As i let go, she reared up one more time and flipped over on me. I was able to stand up and she flipped on her side. nothing hurt at the time, so i just got back on right away and made her do it all over again.
Ha, you should have seen her. She held her head low at every gate. She listened and never once pinned her ears back at me after that. My friend asked if i was alright, or if i need to go inside. She just couldn't get over the fact that I was okay, I just stood up and got right back on AND that i was laughing.
I know it's horrible, but it was exciting. I think i should just become a bronc rider. haha!
Well it was definitely a fun experience for me...i'm just really weird like that and find bucks and rears pretty exciting. :-P

Oh my gosh!!!! Bucking is one thing, rearing is another for me!!!! I had a crazy mare flip over on me, and I ended up with a broke ankle that had to have 4 pins and screws in!!! I'm so glad you are ok!! But then again, that mare learned a lesson from you! Sometimes when they flip over, they tend not to do it anymore. My mare on the other hand, learned before we got her, that it was her way out of getting worked. Because she did it over and over again. Whether you got on her or not. She was a total nut!!! She tore down 2 stalls, broke the tree in a saddle, and I don't know how many halters and bridles. We tried everything with her. My husband would not let me get back on her after I finally healed. But, if we took this mare out away from the house to a cattle penning, she was good as gold, and always put my husband in the money. Funny huh? I'm just glad you are ok!!! I thought I'd share my scary experience!!!

yeah I'm okay. Thanks I'm glad everything is okay too, it just happened so fast i didn't even feel anything hurt. Ofcourse the next day my back hurt really badly and i got a huge bruise on the inside of my thigh from the saddle. Yeah my friend has mentioned she bucks sometimes but never has reared. Sooo i guess i was the first to experience that! I've never even fallen off a horse, SOMEHOW i always stay on...i think i have TOO good of balance. :-P
yeah the mare was fine too. She stood up and waited. I got back on, we rode and she was so good. She was perfect afterwards. She was actually respecting me after the little accident we had.
Docker, geez...that's scary! Are you okay now? What did you do with the mare? Did you sell her or keep her?

Thank gosh you and the mare are okay! Great for you that you got back up and got back on again! My sister and I have had lots of happy little trail accidents, and we always end up laughing so hard because of the rush of it! At the end of a ride once, I leaned over to grab a pine cone off a tree and my saddle was so loose and my horse was so sweaty, that my saddle and I just kinda slipped off! My horse jumped sideways, and stood there looking at me like, "What the heck are you doing down there?" I know it's horrible, but it always seems fun if no one is hurt!
