    Haflinger Color help!

We just bought Mack, a 6 yr old Haflinger. He's not the 'normal' color for a Haffy, and was wondering what you call his Color

Haflingers are chestnut + flaxen + pangare'. This boy has the chestnut and the flaxen bit, but I don't see the pangare' in him either. He's probably "liver" or he may be sooty.

Pangare! Most Haffies seem to have it, although some do not.

I vote for a very sooty flaxen chestnut.

So is he Chocolate..or Pangare? LOL

Oh the reason he looks brindle is because in the first pictures its the shadow from the tree.

Pangare is a variation in the horses coloration where the legs and underside are lighter than the rest of the coat. It is an addition to the horses color kinda like sooty or rubican. So I don't think you can technically call a horse just Pangare.

Here is a horse with flaxen(light mane and tail) and a very pronounced pangare expression:

Also, I don't think your horse is chocolate. Chocolate is more often used to imply that your horse carries the silver gene, which is another can of worms and as far as I know isn't found in hafies.

I would just say your horse is a liver chestnut with flaxen(lighter mane and tail). Technically speaking liver chestnut is not any different than regular chestnut, just a describer of the shade of chestnut.
