Had chiropractor out!

It was quite an experience. I can't believe some of the stuff his was able to do and he was not a big man! He took his back leg and lifted it out to the side and upward...high. Dubie was such a good boy through it all except when he brought out the "retractor popper" thingy. He ran it on him and Dubie was kind of scared of the popping sound and how it hit him. So he starts backing up, head real high. So the guy puts his arm around Dubies head so his muzzle is in his arm pit. He says to Dubie, " smell that. No fear here so calm down" not mean or anything just matter of factly. Dubie stood quietly the rest of the session. So we'll see how that works for him.

Did he find anything specific?

The chiro we have used for Josey and now Boss does not use anything other then the feel of his hands....

I would be kindof skeptical about the other stuff???? The guy we use has a world champion barrel racing youth horse he works on as well as Studs on the track and others...,

He is blind (almost) and his wife tells him what to look for by watching the horse walk and then he feels the rest. He is quite good and I noticed an immediate improvement w/Josey when I first used him. I had just bought her and the next day she was a different horse.

It was all in his front end. A lot of tension there. But what he did had a major effect on straightening his spine up. When he was done he was picking up his back legs. I don't know the mechanics but he really didn't find anything specific except for his front. He buried his hand into that bone in the front.

Hope it works out for you Melissa. I noticed the other day that one of Tuckers vertebre in his back was raised up a bit. I thought his back could be out. Now it is back in place. I think he threw it back in when he was running and bucking at liberty the other evening. I know of at least two other people who have used Equine Chiropractors. They worked for them.

He used a massage looking thing. It was rounded and he ran it along his neck and sides. He said he use to use his hands but they would cramp up. The "popper" thing has been used on me. I forgot what they call it.

He did give me a sheet with about 10 different exercises that he recommend I do with him. About 5 of them was stuff he did.

I just am not skilled enough to notice a difference. My trainer is good about watching how a horse moves and what is bothering him. He has always been spot on. I'll see when I take him this weekend.

He just started antibiotics yesterday for his infection in his tummy caused by irritation of sand. For being 6 years old he sure has had problems lately.

Usually the vertebra in the neck are out, and generally a hip is dropped lower than the other. That sounds like what he was fixing with lifting his leg up.

Some people are really for using tools for chiropracty, others are against. I have no problem with it if the chiro knows what he is doing, sometimes it's hard to get those vertebra back in place.

He suggested that maybe I put the corral panels at the top lower. Dubie loves going up the hill. It would be one thing if he just wanted or galloped up it but he likes to kick, buck and pass gass loudly on it! I had asked him if that hill could throw his back out. He said yeah. Dubie can turn himself into a madman on that hill. He once tried to roll on the hill and slid to the bottom. He loves his hill but he can get wild on it.
